چکیده
Along the Indian coast, oysters were identified and studied since the beginning of the 20th century. One of the first records on the taxonomy of Indian oysters is by Hornell (1910) [2]. Since then a series of reports on the taxonomy of Indian oyster were made[1,3,4-9]. Originally the Indian oysters were referred to under the genus Ostrea but was later included under the genus Crassostrea. Another oyster genus Saccostrea was also recorded. In India, four species of oysters, coming under the subfamily Crassostrinae, including Indian backwater oyster Crassostrea madrasensis[1], West coast oyster Crassostrea gryphoides (Schlothein 1813), Chinese oyster Crassostrea rivularis (Gould, 1850) and Indian rock oyster Saccostrea cucullata (Born, 1890), have been considered as economically important[9]. In addition to the above four, Bombay Oyster, Saccostrea cucullata, and giDepartment of Fisheries and Aquaculture, St.Albert’s College, Ernakulam District, Kerala State, India

A mitogenomic phylogeny and genetic history of Amphioctopus fangsiao (d’Orbigny 1839-1841) from China
Phylogeny and genetic diversity of Amphioctopus fangsiao were assessed by sequence analysis of complete mitochondrial genomes, sequenced from 15 individuals of nine populations. The whole mtDNA genomes size were ranging from 15977 to 15990 bp. Data revealed 1642 polymorphic sites and 1023 parsimony informative sites. The phylogenetic analysis based on neighbor joining tree disclosed two clades...
متن کاملAssessment of Skin Pathological Responses in the Yellowfin Seabream (Acanthopagrus latus) under the Aeromonas hydrophila Exposure
Background: Bacterial diseases in cultured fish are considered the main problem to aquaculture system. Skin is the structure that covers the body in fish. Skin histopatological alterations were used to assess the effects of Aeromonas hydrophila exposure on the yellowfin seabream )Acanthopagrus latus(. Methods: In this regard, 90 A. latus were exposed to sublethal concentrations of A. hydrophil...
متن کاملEfficacy of incorporating spent seaweeds in aqua feeds as a nutritional source
Spent biomass of different seaweeds such as Sargassum wightii, Turbinaria conoides, Padina tetrastomata and Ulva lactuca were evaluated for the nutritional benefits in aqua feeds. Basic nutritional value, of seaweeds contains a number of pigments, defensive and storage compounds, and secondary metabolites that could have beneficial effects in farmed fish. Only a small fraction of algal species ...
متن کاملAssessment of Gill Pathological Responses in Yellowfin Sea Bream (Acanthopagrus Latus) Under Aeromonas Hydrophila Exposure
Bacterial diseases in cultured fish are considered the main problem with aquaculture system in Iran. The gills are multifunctional organs responsible for respiration, osmoregulation, nitrogenous waste excretion, and acid-base balance. Moreover, they are very sensitive to water contamination. Aeromonas hydrophila (A. hydrophila) is an opportunist pathogen responsible for ...

The current study investigated histological development and histochemistry of digestive accessory glands of Vimba bream Vimba vimba from hatching through 60th day after hatching (DAH). The samples were randomly taken from day 1 (hatching) until the full absorption of the yolk sac at day 7 and the day after that, then with 2, 5, and 10 days intervals until 60 DAH. The development of the digestiv...
متن کاملDynamics of a Single Point Mooring Marine Aquaculture Cage as a Simple Vibrating System
The increasing world demand for fish cannot be met by capture fisheries. Aquaculture production is increasing and nowadays cage culture has an important role in meeting the world’s fish demand. The design of the physical structure of a cage is determined by the oceanographic conditions of the culture site. Each design is site-specific and knowledge of the topography, wind force and direct...
